The Ministry of Youths and Sports Development on Wednesday dissolved the Interim Management Committee, IMC, two months after it was set-up to oversee Basketball in the Country.
The Federal Government had banned the country from International Basketball and Dissolved the Sports Federation due to lingering Leadership crisis and inaugurated the IMC which was headed by renowned Sports Administrator Henry Nzekwu.
The IMC was given the mandate to develop the local league which has been in limbo for many years and facilitate the discovery and nurturing of young players from the Grassroots.

The mandate of the Committee ended when few days after inauguration by the Minister of Sports Sunday Dare, the Federal Government rescinded its withdrawal from International Basketball and in a tacit Communique pitched tent with the Musa Kida led Board of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF, which is also recognised by the Federation of International Basketball Association, FIBA.
