Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have killed 5 farmers including 4 females and a male in Gidan Sule village, in Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, North-Central Nigeria.
President of the Tiv Development Association in the state, Peter Ahemba made this known while speaking to journalists in Lafia, the state capital.
He explained that the suspected herdsmen launched attack on his people on Wednesday while they were sleeping and killed 4 of them on the spot, while the fifth person was rushed to a hospital and later died.

He said the Tiv community in Nasarawa State lost the 5 persons in Gidan Sule village in Keana Local Government Area as a result of the attack.
He added that the Tiv people in Nasarawa State are peace-loving and that there was no misunderstanding between the two tribes and wondered why the attack.
Ahemba appealed to Tiv people in the community to remain calm as he was collaborating with security agencies to restore normalcy in the community.
Meanwhile, the State Acting Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, Bala Dabo, when contracted said that he was not aware of the attack on the community and cannot say if the Fulani herdsmen are involved or not and that investigations would be carried out
The state police said they have deployed a detachment of personnel comprising the Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, vigilantes and hunters with support from the military.
