An Abuja Federal High Court on Friday refused to grant former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha bail pending the determination of a suit he instituted against the Federal Government.
Justice Inyang Ekwo declined to order the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC to release him on bail.
Okorocha had in an ex-parte application pleaded with the court that he is a Presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressive Congress APC and that his political ambition would be jeopardized if not granted bail.
Justice Ekwo in a brief ruling on the bail application said he was not inclined to admit him to bail.
Justice Ekwo however ordered Okorocha to put the Federal Government on notice to come and defend the detention.
The Senator representing Imo West in the Senate was arrested by the EFCC on 25th of May on allegation of fraud while in office and he has also
been slated for arraignment on N2.9B money laundering charges before the same Judge twice but refused to honour it
Justice Ekwo had ordered that Okorocha be brought to court before the next adjourned date which is May 30, 2022.
