Kano-based woman, Hafsatu Yusuf, who recently gave birth to quintuplets at the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, has died less than 24 hours after delivery.
Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Ministry of Health, Nabilusi Abubakar, confirmed on Thursday that the woman passed away around 2pm at the hospital.
He disclosed that, Hafsatu Yusuf experienced persistent bleeding after delivering the five babies, including three boys and two girls, and that efforts by the medical personnel to stabilise her condition were unsuccessful.
Abubakar confirmed that the newborns are in stable condition and are currently receiving medical attention at the hospital.
The incident occurred shortly after the Kano State Government announced that it had taken responsibility for the medical care of the mother and her babies following the delivery.
