Murder Suspect Timileyin Ajayi Pleads Not Guilty

Timileyin Ajayi, the man accused of killing and dismembering a female youth corps member Salome Adaidu in Nasarawa state says he is innocent of her murder

Ajayi said this during his arraignment before a high court in Lafia on Monday

On the seventeen of January, 2025, Timilehin Ajayi was remanded at a Correctional Centre in Lafia after his first appearance in the state high court following a one count charge of culpable homicide brought against him by the Nasarawa State police command for allegedly killing Salome Adaidu, a corp member who was serving at NICON Insurance in Abuja.

Appearing for the second time before Justice Simon Aboki, the popular gospel singer Ajayi pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In his argument, the prosecution counsel who is also the officer in charge of the legal department Nasarawa State police command, Stanley Nwafor-Agu told the high court judge that the command has overwhelming evidence to sustain the charge.

On his part, the defence counsel from the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, Joseph Tukur stressed the need for due process to be followed in the prosecution of Timilehin Ajayi to uphold the rule of law.

In an Interview with a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN Jibril Okutepa said they were watching brief to ensure that justice is served in the trial of Timilehin Ajayi.

Justice Simon Aboki however adjourned the case for seventeenth to twentieth of March, 2025 for trial of Timilehin Ajayi.

The case has garnered widespread public attention, with both legal teams preparing for the next phase of the judicial process.
