President Bola Tinubu has launched the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem and Appeal Fund.
President Tinubu who presided over the launch of the emblem at the State House in Abuja, thanked the Armed Forces for their role as the first line of defence in protecting the country.
The Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an annual event, marked on January 15 to honour the country’s fallen heroes who paid the supreme sacrifice for Nigeria during the First and Second World Wars including the 30-month civil war.
President Tinubu commended the Armed Forces for the successes recorded in fighting insecurity across the country. He added that without security, there would not be peace and progress in any society.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akuma pledged N500 million as donation of the executive to the emblem and appeal fund while the National Assembly through the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio pledged N200 million.
The Service Chiefs and Inspector-General of Police pledged a donation of N50 million each to the Emblem Appeal Fund.
