A 2024 supplementary budget of N 98.5 billion for the Federal Capital Territory has passed second reading in the Nigerian Senate.
The breakdown of the budget shows N160 billion for the procurement of Compressed Natural Gas buses and N10 billion for the rehabilitation of the International Conference Centre.
Other appropriation estimates include the sum of N5 billion for the reconstruction of the link road and rehabilitation of facilities at the presidential wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, N18 billion for the renovation of 20 schools in the FCT and N3bn earmarked for furnishing the Federal High Court headquarters annex building for the Body of Benchers.
The bill was initially stepped down during Wednesday’s plenary due to the lack of attached details, but was reintroduced after the details were provided for the lawmakers perusal.
Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin reminded the house that the bill had already been deliberated on.
The bill thereafter passed second reading through a voice vote, was referred to the Senate Committee on FCT and Area Councils for review and report in one week.
