The Nigerian Army says, it is poised to sustain its ongoing operation to ensure farmers access their farmlands during this year’s rainy season to engage in food production to guarantee Food sufficiency in Zamfara and the country at large.
The commander of One Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Gusau Brigadier General Sani Ahmed stated this while distributing clothing to 400 less privileged children and almajiri as part of activities to mark the Army Day celebration and enhance civil-military relations, where he warned informants to stop giving information to the bandits to unleash terror on innocent citizens.
The Commander of One Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Gusau Brigadier General Sani Ahmed said even though the Nigerian Army lost several of its personnel who were protecting farmers in their farms, it would not allow that to deter it from offering protection to farmers this year’s rainy season, pledging to intensify efforts to enable farmers to access their farmlands without being harmed by armed violent bandits.
He warned armed bandits to drop their firearms or face the full fighting power of the military, stressing that it would not spare anyone who took up arms against the State, as they are not resting on its oars to flush out the bandits.
Brigadier General Sani Ahmed disclosed that the Nigerian Army in Gusau donated clothes to the less privileged children and books to eleven Public Secondary and Primary schools in Gusau, and medical consumables to primary healthcare Centers in the fourteen Local Government Areas of Zamfara State to enhance civil-military relations.
The chief of staff of One Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Gusau, Colonel Joseph Umaru who had earlier led the distribution of the books to the eleven Public schools on behalf of the Brigade commander, called on residents of the State, to support the military operations with credible intelligence sharing to succeed in eliminating the bandits.
The clothes and pairs of shoes were handed over to orphans and almajiri which included boys and girls, while books and other writing materials to Public schools, and Medical consumables and drugs were to Primary Healthcare Centers across Zamfara State.
