The Nigerian Army says it will continue to uphold the principles of fairness and inclusivity to foster trust within its ranks and enhance professional conduct.
Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede stated this at a lecture held in Kaduna as part of activities marking the 2025 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL).
The lecture, which brought together top military officers, both serving and retired, focused on addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges and the role of the military in national transformation.
This year’s theme, “The Soldier First Concept and the Future of the Nigerian Army: Shaping a New Culture for Army Transformation,” emphasized the need to align operational and tactical goals with the well-being and development of personnel.

Delivering the keynote address, former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, stressed that the dynamic nature of today’s security environment demands constant evaluation of strategy, training, and combat readiness.
He noted that putting the soldier first ensures better resilience on the battlefield and strengthens the overall ability of the Army to meet its constitutional responsibilities.
A major highlight of the event was the Chief of Army Staff Literary Competition, which provided a platform for intellectual engagement among personnel.
The lecture is part of broader efforts by the Nigerian Army to drive internal reforms, build morale, and adapt to changing threats through professional development and institutional renewal.
