A spokesman for the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, says the Nigerian Air Force is yet to ascertain the cause of the MI 17 Helicopter air crash in Niger State, while on an evacuation mission.

At a press briefing in Abuja, the Director Of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, confirmed that 36 soldiers, including officers, were killed both in the ambush and the air crash, including the two pilots.

He added that an investigation is still underway, to determine the cause.

Air Commodore Gabkwet also appealed to the conscience of Nigerians, to desist from promoting the activities of terrorists, urging the citizens to be wary of propaganda by terrorists and remain patriotic.

The military urges all Nigerians to continue to support its operations across the country.
