Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal receives NAF delegation

The Nigerian Air Force has sent a delegation to condole with Governor Dauda Lawal, the Government and the people of Zamfara State over the mistaken airstrike which killed some residents of Tungar Kara in Maradun LGA.

The high-powered delegation, which was led by the Director Coordination and Cooperation in the Civil-Military Relations Branch of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshall Edward Gabkwet, said they were in Zamfara State to condole with families of the victims and carry out the assessment of the situation to avoid a reoccurrence in the future.

The military has been carrying out onslaughts against terrorists unleashing terror on innocent citizens in Zamfara State, killing many of them. The recent operation conducted by the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma mistakenly bombed Tungar Kara in the Maradun LGA where some residents suffered collateral damage.

Governor Lawal appreciated the Nigerian Air Force condolence visit, describing it as leadership and commended them for their commitment to fighting banditry, pledging to collaborate to eliminate the terrorists. He believes that if banditry is stamped out in Zamfara State, then over 70% of the insecurity would have been addressed.

After the team visited the Governor and headquarters of Operations Fansan Yamma, they proceeded to the affected communities, Tungar Kara and Kakidawa district of Maradun LGA to sympathise with families of the victims and conduct an assessment of the situation.
