Delta state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has charged the national agency for food, drugs administration and control, NAFDAC to toughen its stand against manufacturers of fake drugs and other unwholesome products.
Governor Okowa Who Gave This Charge When He Received The NAFDAC Director-General, Professor Christiana Adeyeye in government house Asaba said such tough measures should not be compromised because it has to do with lives of the people.
Governor Okowa, represented by his deputy, Kinsley Otuaro said NAFDAC’s decision to establish its investigative center in Asaba was a wise one considering the fact that the state is a gateway to the eastern part of the country where cases of fake and adulterated products were rampant.
Governor Okowa who reiterated his administration’s commitment to partner with the agency in sanitising the country of fake and adulterated drugs encouraged them to be courageous in the discharge of their duties so as to save more lives.
The NAFDAC director-general, professor Adeyeye said she was in delta state for the official launch of the enforcement Centre in Asaba and to seek ways of deepening the relationship with the state government
Professor Adeyeye said her vision under quality management, includes customer-focused, agency-minded and country-dedicated organisation. She further explained that the presence of the agency at the ports has yielded tremendous success.
