Bank Customers in Calabar the Cross River State capital have resorted to night transactions that will enable them to get money deposited in their accounts from the various banks’ Automated Teller Machines, ATMs, despite the huge risk involved.
These were the findings by AIT’s Rasheed Olanrewaju, who went around some major banks at night to know how the citizens got money given the inability of many banks to function during working hours.
The untold hardships being explained by some of these bank customers in Calabar were part of the side effects of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s newly redesigned Naira notes.
Others who spoke on their safety and protection,
explained that the best security was for them to get the money deposited in the various bank accounts.

The Poice Commissioner in Cross River State, Sule Balarabe, however, said he Is aware of the situation, as police patrol teams have been deployed to move around the various banks, for the protection of the banks and operations for night customers.
