The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has given a 7-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to restore security in kidnap prone areas in Abia State, or face a massive protest.
The General Secretary of NANS Zone F, South-East, Frank Orji who made the call in Umudike, while interacting with the press, in the company of other student leaders, also called on the Federal Government to renew negotiations with the striking university lecturers, so that the students can go back to school.
The students accused the government and security agencies of paying lip service to the issue of security, especially kidnapping in the state, calling for a total flush of the kidnappers from forests around the Umunneochi Local Government Area.

For them, many students who are idling away because of the strike may likely be pushed into crime.
