A heavy gas leakage has grounded academic activities at the Federal College of Education Technical Omoku in Ogba Egbema Ndon Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The leaking gas pipeline which passes underground through the college campus linking the Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas NLNG is said to be owned by the Nigerian Agip Oil Company, NAOC.

The underground pipeline started spilling its contents heavily into the air and around the school environment on Friday last week.

Speaking to ait.live, President of the Institution’s Students Union Government, Adiela Success, says the incident has been reported to Agip but there has been no positive response yet.

She described the leaking pipeline which is behind the college campus premises as life-threatening.

Success further stated that the leakage has affected lectures and the health of students, warning that if nothing was done within three days, Students of the School will mobilize to shut down Agip’s operational base.

The provost of the college Ikenyiri Emmanuel and the ONELGA council, Chairman Vincent Jacob expressed their thoughts on the leakage.
One of Agip’s Community Relations officers who decline to give out his name said the company was making arrangements to inspect the leaking gas pipeline facility.
