The desire of Nigeria to become self-sufficient in sugar production has received a boost following an agreement of over three hundred million dollars signed between the Nasarawa state government and flour mills in Nigeria.
The Nasarawa state Governor Abdullahi Sule at the signing ceremony assured the investors of government support in realizing the project.
The occasion also witnessed the official handover ceremony for the newly acquired land in Nasarawa state for sugar backward integration program in toto local government area of Nasarawa state.


The representative of flour mills of Nigeria plc was very excited about the first greenfield project which is an addition to its previous investment in Sunti, Niger state.

Top federal ministers, past and serving state governors say it’s another leap in the backward integration programme on sugar and called for sustainability of the investment.
For governor Abdullahi Sule the project is another realization of the government’s promise to create jobs and improve the economic fortunes of the state.
This new agreement is the third major investment under the Sule administration in the last two years.
