Nasarawa state government has asked public office holders in the State to desist from engaging in political activities for now and instead focus squarely on their constitutional responsibilities.

Governor Abdullahi Sule said this while declaring open a retreat for Commissioners, Special Advisers, and Senior Special Assistants, which began in Abuja on Monday.

The Abuja retreat for commissioners, Special Advisers, and Senior Special Assistants is aimed at closing the gap between political appointees and government functionaries as well as foster synergy and collaboration to drive the development agenda of the Sule administration.

The Nasarawa state Governor urged participants to concentrate on effectively implementing government policies and programmes and not to be swayed by early political movements ahead of the 2027 elections.

The Director of Studies at the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Dr. Liman Mohammed Tijani, emphasized that the retreat presented an opportunity for participants to grow into transformational leadership.

He described the retreat as a platform for fostering team spirit and sharpening essential leadership skills.

The Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government, Shuaibu Labaran Magaji, commended the Governor’s dedication to policies that reflect the aspirations of the people while noting that the retreat would further support the state’s developmental goals.

He encouraged participants to fully engage in the retreat and equip themselves with new skills that will enhance their performance in office.

The three-day retreat focuses on critical areas essential to effective policy implementation and the socio-economic advancement of Nasarawa State.
