Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule

The Nasarawa State Government has cautioned Fulani Herdsmen in the state against night grazing, an activity governor Abdullahi Sule describes as a key trigger of the recurring farmer-herder clashes across the country.

Governor Abdullahi Sule gave the advice during the launch and handover of a healthcare facility constructed by the Nigerian Air Force as part of its corporate social responsibility to communities affected by the January ,2023 accidental airstrike on Rukubi community on Doma local government area of the state.

Governor Abdullahi Sule commended the Nigerian Air Force for acknowledging its operational error and going further to provide a healthcare facility for the affected community targeted at addressing the plight of the victims.

The Nasarawa state governor also commended the Fulani community for their calm and acceptance of the tragedy that befell them in 2023.

The Nasarawa state governor however identified night grazing by Fulani Herdsmen as a major cause of the recurring farmer-herder clashes across Nigeria, but expressed optimism that if such practice is stopped then the ongoing herders-farmers crises will cease.

Governor Sule reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure and transportation, particularly along the Doma-Rukubi axis to boost security in the surrounding communities.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, assured the governor of continuous support to the Rukubi community by the Nigerian Air Force with plans already concluded for more projects, including the construction of a block of classrooms and other healthcare facilities.

The chairman of Doma Local Government Council, Jonathan Okuba Ari, expressed satisfaction with the gesture of the Nigerian Air Force, describing it as timely and impactful.
