Twelve inmates across five Custodial centres in Nasarawa State have be regained their freedom, following amnesty granted by the State Governor, Abdullahi Sule as part of activities marking the celebration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence anniversary and the 28 years of the creation of Nasarawa State.

Governor Sule granted the amnesty during his visit to the Lafia Correctional Center in the State capital.

He urged the inmates to make the best use of the experiences and skills they gathered during their stay in the Correctional facilities, as they can be relevant to themselves and the society.

Appreciating the interest of the inmates to acquire vocational skills, the Governor apart from the commitment to improve on their wellbeing also promised to address some of the logistic issues confronting the Custodial centre.

Chief Judge of Nasarawa State, Justice Aisha Bashir Aliyu said the judiciary will continue to do its best in ensuring that the Custodial centres in the State are not over crowded.

In a separate development, Governor Sule has visited the headquarters of the Four Special Forces, where he sympathised with the officers and men over the death of 5 soldiers in the line of their duties in the State.

The Governor praised the contributions of the Special Forces, noting that the peaceful coexistence in Nasarawa State will not be forgotten in a hurry and prayed God to grant the departed soldiers eternal rest.

The Commander of the Four Special Forces Doma, Major General Hilary Nzan appreciated the Governor’s concern for the officers and men of the Special Forces, as identifying with the Command over the sad loss was a great morale boost for his men.
