The leadership of the National Assembly has tasked Nigerian women to position themselves for leadership roles in the country.

This was as the national assembly through the deputy chief whip of the house of representatives, Nkeiruka Onyejocha appealed to women not to relent in their efforts to promote peace in the country.

Onyejocha stated this when she received a group of women loyal to her ruling All Progressives Congress APC who had come to present their protest letter against calls by the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) to prevent the Senate from approving the nomination of one of President Muhammadu Buhari’s aides, Lauretta Onochie as National Commissioner for the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.

The female lawmaker told the protesters that the National Assembly will take the right steps in the circumstance and will never forsake the interest of women.

She however called on the group to rally other women groups in the country and push strongly for greater inclusiveness for women in politics and leadership positions in Nigeria.
