The Chairman, Senate Committee on Army, Senator Ali Ndume says, the equipment being used by the Nigerian Army in the fight against bandits and Boko Haram terrorists are grossly inadequate.

He says, despite the challenges, the Nigerian Army is recording successes in the ongoing war against banditry, kidnapping and cattle rustling in Zamfara, Katsina and Sokoto States.

He made this known during a visit to the Army’s Special Super Camp IV, the Headquarters of Operation Sahel Sanity, at Faskari community in Zamfara State.

Operation Sahel Sanity which was inaugurated on the July 6 is to stem bandit activities in Zamfara, Katsina and Sokoto States.

It is in view of this, that the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army and his counterpart in the House of Representatives, Abdulrazak Namdas are visiting the Nigerian Army Super Camp IV to assess the Nigerian Army ongoing fight against bandits in the Northwest zone.

While Senator Ndume describes the budgetary allocation for the security agencies as inadequate, Namdas applauds the ingenuity of the Nigerian Army, to fabricate the military hardwares being used in the fight against insecurity in the country.

The lawmakers were received by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai, who briefed the lawmakers on the operational successes and challenges, in the ongoing fight against banditry.
