The state of emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu is not scheduled for debate on the Order Paper of the House of Representatives.

AIT live can authoritatively report that no item on the Order Paper for the day captures anything about the state of emergency in Rivers State.

Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu who is presiding over plenary has also passed the item on the Order Paper where the communication from the President is captured.

Usually every communication from the President comes before lawmakers begin the business of the day.

However, there are a few times that letters from the President are read at the end of plenary or a supplementary order paper is issued.

The plenary is however still in session.

Meanwhile, the Senate was yet to begin its plenary session as of 1pm. President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio arrived the chamber around 12.45pm, accompanied by other leaders.

Shortly after the National Anthem was sung, Akpabio was seen in discussions with his deputy, Barau Jibrin, Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele and two of them making phone calls.

Other lawmakers waited patiently for the session to commence. The official resumption time for plenary is 11am.

Other senators took turns to meet the presiding officer until plenary eventually began proper at 1.10pm
