The launch of a new party logo, colour and constitution by the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP unsettles its splinter group.
The splinter group says the changes at the NNPP convention led by former governor of Kano state, Rabiu-Musa kwankwaso are illegal.
The major crisis rocking NNPP started immediately after the 2023 elections when the former acting national chairman, professor Alkali Ahmed resigned barely one year in office, before Abba Kawu-Ali takes over as acting national chairman leading to internal crisis.
But Kawu-Ali has since last week resigned his position which necessitated the convention.
Apart from the new logo ,colour and constitution, Notable at the convention was the appointment of Ajuji Ahmed as the new acting national chairman.
The splinter group led by Major Agbo described the convention as illegal.
In a statement signed by the national publicity secretary of the splinter group, Abdulrahman Abdulrasheed described it as illegal gathering, saying that the new acting national chairman Ajuji is not a member of the party.
The splinter group claimed to be in possession of the NNPP certificate of registration and any action by the kwankwaso leadership is null and void.
