The Statistician-General of the Federation, Dr Simon Barsha, has reaffirmed the commitment of the agency to produce official statistics for the management of the nation’s economy.
Dr Simon Barsha said this during the opening ceremony of the meeting of the National Consultative Committee on Statistics, held in Kano.
To ensure sustained development of statistics in Nigeria, the National Bureau of Statistics has designed a 4-year Corporate Strategy, 2022 to 2025, to define a clear road map to improve the quality of statistics in Nigeria.
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, commended the coordinating body for unifying all statistical systems into the common forum, noting that statistical production requires some level of coordination, to ensure consistency, as well as eliminate unnecessary duplication of efforts.
The meeting had in attendance, stakeholders from all over the country.
