The Young Catholic Students of Nigeria have called on President Mohammadu Buhari to wake up to his responsibility of securing the lives and property of Nigerians and stop the abduction of Catholic Priests and Religious leaders in the country.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2022 National convention of the movement in Kabba, Kogi State North central Nigeria, National President Catholic Students, Sylvester Idoko, challenged students to vote out incompetent leaders in the coming elections
In attendance at the Catholic Diocesan Pastoral Center Kabba in Kogi State are members of the Young Catholic Students of Nigeria, YCS, from the thirty-six states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory for the annual convention.
National President of the YCS, Sylvester Idoko is worried about the decay in the Nigerian state, especially the rising abduction of Catholic priests and religious leaders.
The lingering ASUU strike was also a talking point at this convention
Represented by the Director of Youth Apostolate at the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, Rev Father Boniface Idoko, the Catholic Bishops believe that youths’ involvement in vices is occasioned by neglect from the government
While making some requests from government, the students called for active political participation in 2023
