Catholic Pontiff, Pope Francis says the vatican will assist the Nigerian Government in combating the menace of insecurity plaguing the country.
Pope Francis said this while receiving the ambassador to the Vatican city of Rome, His Excellency Paul Oga Adikwu on Monday 21st June 2021.
The catholic pontiff expressed his readiness to collaborate with Nigeria to overcome the security challenges currently witnessed in the sub-Sahara region. Pope Francis appreciated the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, to combat security challenges witnessed in some parts of the country. The pope said the problem is not just a Nigerian problem but a global one, adding that he will personally be involved in praying for Nigeria to overcome the situation.

The federal government of Nigeria only recently opened diplomatic relations with the Vatican city.
Presenting his letter of credence to the Holy Father, Pope Francis, The newly appointed ambassador, Paul Adikwu conveyed the warm greetings of President Muhammadu Buhari, saying he was prepared to hit the ground running.
He added that he intends to start prayer sessions with major religious organizations both in Nigeria and the Vatican City for the peace and stability of Nigeria.
Ambassador Adikwu urged Nigerians in Rome to continue to be law abiding and to represent the good image of Nigeria in the Vatican region and Italy at large.
