The Senior Staff Association of Nigeria University, (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union, (NASU) have shut down Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State following the nationwide strike declared by their national body.
During a visit to the Felele permanent site of the university in Lokoja, there were virtually no activities as some students who came to do their clearance became stranded.
The Chairman of SSANU, Adedeji Kasim Suara, accused some officials of the Federal Government of sabotaging the efforts of President Bola Tinubu in the payment of their outstanding salaries and said they will remain on strike until their demands are met.

The chairman of NASU Comrade Abdulazeez Yusuf noted that despite the economic hardships, the current administration has failed to listen to cry of the people in the University.
The leadership of the two unions carpeted the federal government for failing to pay their four months outstanding salaries but appealed to the government to give top priority to the education sector.
