Navy arrests four suspects for theft of metallurgical coal in Ajaokuta Steel

The Nigeria Navy Ship, NNS Lugard has arrested four suspects for allegedly stealing metallurgical coal in Ajaokuta Steel Company in Kogi State, North-Central Nigeria.

Commander, NNS Lugard, Moses Epelle, told Journalists in Ajaokuta that the suspects will be handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for prosecution.

The suspects were arrested following a tip-off that some unknown persons were stealing metallurgical coal along jetty of the Ajaokuta Steel Company .

The Commander told journalists that the suspects, Abdulrazak Danjuma, Idris Abdullahi, Suleiman Ibrahim and Musa Muhammed, gained access to the jetty through the waterway on a wooden boat in which they loaded about 400 bags of the material to be conveyed to an unidentified destination.

Special Adviser on Media to Kogi State Governor, Ismaila Isah, commended the Nigerian Navy for its efforts in ensuring that crime and criminalities in the State are brought to a minimal level.

The Commander, NNS Lugard, Moses Epelle, however advised the Management of Ajaokuta Steel Company to beef up the security architecture of the complex while promising that the Nigerian Navy Ship Lugard will continue to check the activities of miscreants along the waterways.
