In line with the quest to provide quality healthcare training that will increase the number of medical doctors working in Niger Delta region, the Nigerian Navy has provided facilities at its Reference Hospital in Calabar, the Cross River State in readiness for accreditation.

Speaking with Journalists during a facility inspection at the hospital, Registrar of Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Tajudeen Sanusi, said the Navy Reference Hospital is ready for the residency programme of medical services in Calabar and its environs.

Sanusi explained that Nigeria needs more modern hospitals to train fresh doctors that will provide medical services to the citizenry.

On his part, the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral David Adeniran, said that the accreditation process has enhanced the hospital’s standard of service delivery to the people living in the Niger Delta region.

The Navy Reference Hospital was commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2018 with a promise that his administration will provide resources to enable it to attain international standards.
