The Nigeria Bar Association Akure state Branch, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other stakeholders in the electoral process to adopt a more dynamic and credible electoral system that ensures every vote counts on election day.
Chairman of the Akure Branch of the NBA, Umar Onimisi, made the call on Sunday while addressing journalists ahead of the association’s 2025 Law Week.
Onimisi emphasized the need for stronger collaboration among the three arms of government to establish an electoral framework that guarantees transparency and fairness.
He described the increasing number of litigations before and after elections as worrisome, noting that they continue to undermine the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral system.
The press briefing marks the beginning of activities lined up for the NBA Akure Branch 2025 Law Week.
