The Nigerian Bar Association has urged citizens, particularly members of the legal profession, to eschew all forms of conduct that could bring the legal profession to disrepute in whatever circumstance they may find themselves.
The President of the Association Yakubu Maikyau made the plea in a statement to commemorate the Easter celebration.
It is a Season when Christians remember and celebrate the death, burial and resurrection, and eventual ascension of Jesus Christ.

Maikyau in his statement harped on the need for lawyers to always make themselves available to provide direction to the people and commit to the advancement of the cause of the country, while also advising citizens of the need to show love, compassion, and forgiveness to one another in their daily lives.
While urging Nigerians to consciously refuse to be insensitive to the bloodshed that seems to characterize daily experience in all parts of the country, the senior lawyer called on the federal government to step up its game in the discharge of its constitutional responsibility of protecting the lives and property of Nigerians.
Maikayau condemned the bloodshed and other forms of criminality witnessed daily across the country.
He further noted that the Government must deliberately fund and equip the military, security, and law enforcement agencies, to enable them to carry out their statutory functions with appreciable success, as well as deal with any act or omission that constitutes a compromise of their duties.
