The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has frowned at the comments made by the Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, on Tuesday, where he described his removal from office by Justice Inyang Ekwo as a hatchet man’s job.

The NBA while demanding an apology from the Ebonyi State Governor, described Umahi’s reaction as a national embarrassment.

In a statement signed by the NBA president, Olumide Akpata on Wednesday, he stated that Umahi’s reaction to the court judgment by Ekwo was unacceptable.

Apkata said the wise thing Umahi should have done is to appeal the judgment and not speak harshly about a sitting judge.

Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi had in a press briefing video evidence, which is currently making waves both on new and mainstream media, stated that he remains the governor despite the judgment ordering his sack.

The governor also said he has forwarded a petition against justice Ekwo, to the Nigerian Judicial Council, NJC, while referring to the judgment as Jungle Justice.

Umahi claimed that the judgment was purchased and that the judge was out to embarrass his party, but did not provide any evidence to back his allegations against the judge.

The Ebonyi state governor’s reaction followed the order issued by the Federal High Court in Abuja mandating Umahi and his deputy Kelechi Igbe to vacate the seat of Governor and deputy governor, on grounds that their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress, was illegal and unconstitutional.

Justice Inyang Ekwo made the order in a judgement on a suit filed by the PDP seeking the removal of Governor Umahi and his deputy, from office.
