The Niger Delta development commission NDDC says its policy to implement the completion of some abandoned legacy projects remains on course.
The managing director of the NDDC, Samuel Ogbuku stated this in port harcourt during a press briefing on the progress being made by the seventh board of the commission to transform the Niger Delta region.
Before now, the name NDDC was akin to abandoned projects and mistrust amongst its workforce but all that is now a thing of the past as the current board and management of the NDDC is pursuing the implementation of abandoned projects while files of other people oriented policies have been dusted, such as the free medical mission which commenced this year.
Samuel ogbuku said while some Legacy projects have been completed, others will be given the desired attention when the 2024 budget is signed into law and through partnership.
He said, the commission is also worried about the impact of flood in the region hence the commission is now constructing flood camps in some states of the region to mitigate the impacts of flood.
Ogbuku said the light up Niger Delta policy through solar powered street lights is still on course.
He said the much awaited implementation of project hope will soon commence after its launch by thirtieth September this year.
