The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC has dissociated itself from what it has described as a spurious sponsored protest in the united kingdom, by hirelings masquerading as its scholars.

A press statement by the NDDC Director of Corporate Affairs, Charles Odili stated that the sponsored protest was a vendetta, aimed at scaring and intimidating the commission from carrying out the federal government’s ordered forensic audit to unearth the wanton abuse, corruption, and looting of Niger Delta region’s commonwealth, littered with abandoned and poorly executed projects and programs that have scuttled the people’s dreams.

He stated that certain scared elements were fighting to ensure the federal government and the Interim Management Committee, IMC, does not succeed in uncovering the wanton abuse and corruption that necessitated the audit, and that no amount of blackmail will stop the IMC from getting to the roots of the past fraudulent practices, through the forensic audit.

Odili further stated that the NDDC had paid nine hundred thousand dollars to its scholars in year twenty eighteen, three-point five million dollars in twenty nineteen and five-point ninety-nine million dollars to all its verified scholars recently this year.

He wondered where the demand for a further three million dollars was comming from, since further scholarships have not been awarded since the establisment of the current IMC, if not threats and blackmail?

Odili stated that the IMC will however travel to the United Kingdom this month, to verify the discrepancies in the post graduate scholarships, and will never be distracted by any unscrupulous corrupt persons, no matter how powerful they may be.
