The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has said it will continue to promote policies and programmes that will empower youths of the Niger Delta region.
The Chairman of the Governing Board of the NDDC, Chiedu Ebie, Stated this when he performed the official launch of the NDDC Youth Internship scheme in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The NDDC Youth internship scheme is another initiative of the Commission aimed at empowering young people and the physically challenged persons within the Niger Delta region with various skills to better their lot in order to help reduce the unemployment rate.
The Chairman of the NDDC Board, Chief Ebie said the twelve months internship scheme was in line with the Commission’s mandate on youths empowerment, which excludes those above 45 years old.
The Managing Director of the NDDC, Samuel Ogbuku, explained registration on the Youth Internship scheme can only be done through the online portal registration and the listed areas of interest.
A total of 10,000 youths, are expected to benefit from the scheme, with a monthly stipends of N50,000.
