Newly inaugurated Governor of Anambra state, Chukwuma Soludo says the number of Igbos scattered in the north and all over Nigeria is indicative of the fact that Ndigbo needs Nigeria as much as Nigeria needs the Igbos.

Soludo said this during his inauguration speech in Awka.

Reflecting on the human cost of the Nigerian civil war and how he and his family were badly affected,
the Governor believes issues which the region is legitimately agitating can be done without violence and killing of innocent lives.

“We have had every genuine agitation for fairness, justice, equity and equality in the Nigerian federation. No, we refuse to turn our homeland into a crime scene and all manner of criminality. No group has ever succeeded in any struggle in history by turning the sword against itself”.

Governor Soludo also says he supports the resolution by the Igbo Elders Council that dialogue still remains the key to resolving the security challenges confronting Anambra and other south east states.

“I promise to work hard with other leaders in the south east and others to take your agitations to the table of all Nigerians and we hope to bargain for a win-win solution for all Nigeria”.

The Governor says he will invest his political capital to ensure that justice, peace and order returns to Anambra state and the south east.
