Niger State command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, says out of the 125 drug dealers arrested in 2025 for various offences, only one was a female.

Commander Shehu Gwadabawa, who made this known while giving the Command’s scorecard for the year under review, said a total of 7,176.04288 kilogrammes of various illicit drugs were seized, including securing 121 convictions at the Federal High Court, Minna.

As the new year 2026 begins, the fight against drug abuse in Niger State is said to have fared well and witnessed remarkable achievements in drug enforcement, public sensitisation, drug rehabilitation and successful prosecution of drug dealers.

Gwadabawa also added that the War Against Drug Abuse, WADA, public sensitisation was conducted with about 219 engagements across the state which saw the counselling of 299 drug users and rehabilitation of 15 clients.

While assuring a drug-free state going forward, Commander Gwadabawa appealed for more logistics to cover the eight area commands under it for an effective and efficient fight against drug abuse.

He thanked officers and men of the command for always remaining committed, resolute and shunning all forms of corruption, thereby recording the huge success in the year 2025.
