The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Borno State has destroyed about 20,000 Kilograms of forfeited drug exhibits, made up of Cannabis Sativa and a variety of psychotropic substances.
The exercise was to ensure that all seized drugs were permanently put out of circulation.
It was also to allow stakeholders confirm that all seized drugs are destroyed and their merchants decimated.
The Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Colonel Muhammad Abdallah, told the gathering that the number of drug seizures, arrests and conviction of drug dealers in Borno State has confirmed hard drugs as conflict multiplier; exacerbating insurgency, violent crimes and even domestic violence in Borno State.
He said as part of its proposed Drug Integrity Test Policy in the Public Service, NDLEA is also planning to collaborate with religious leaders, to make drug test, a prerequisite for marriages in churches and mosques as in the case of HIV/AIDS and genotype tests.
Borno Governor Babagana Zulum, commended the NDLEA; assuring the agency of his government support.
Zulum directed the State Drug Task Force, and the NDLEA, to reach all the nooks and corners of the state.
