The Adamawa State Command of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA), has intercepted 626 compressed blocks of weed, suspected to be cannabis sativa, said to be weighing about 500.8kg.
The Commandant in the State, Agboalu Femi Samson, said that NDLEA operatives collaborated with the Military at the checkpoint around the Numan Bridge to achieve the feat, as the principal suspect was already on the watch list.
According to Femi, two tinted glass vehicles, including an SUV and a Hilux with fake Presidency number plates, were used to transport the suspected drugs from Alagbaka in Akure, Ondo State, to Mubi in Adamawa State.

The Commandant explained that the Agency has a permanent checkpoint comprising two teams that operate round the clock, to cut off drug supply into the State.
The checkpoints led to the arrests of the suspects with huge seizures of drugs.
Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, visited the scene to assess the intercepted substances.
He assured that the State government will continue to support the NDLEA in its fight against drug abuse and trafficking.
