Woman arrested by NDLEA Operatives at Lagos Airport with 2.2 Kilogrammes of Cocaine

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested a woman at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, with 2.2 kilograms of cocaine cleverly hidden in her suitcase. This comes as the agency also intercepted multiple consignments of narcotics, including Cannabis, Opioids, and Methamphetaminedestined for Local and International Markets.

Over one million pills of Opioids were recovered in Bauchi alone, while massive Cannabis Farms were destroyed in Edo State.

In its weekly update, the NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, explained that, the suspect, 43-year-old Adekoya Adebukola Mary, who claimed she was travelling to India for fibroid surgery, was intercepted on Monday, 16th June, at the Lagos Airport.

Operatives, acting on credible intelligence, found the drugs factory-fitted into the walls of her luggage. She later confessed to embarking on the trip for financial gain under the cover of seeking medical treatment. Investigations revealed that she was recruited by a wanted drug baron, Akeem Ayinde Adekanbi.

Elsewhere, NDLEA Operatives in Lagos foiled attempts to smuggle 1.3 kilograms of Loud, a potent strain of Cannabis, to Bahrain hidden inside sewn female dresses, and 850 grams of Cocaine concealed in cloth hangers heading for Australia.

In Bauchi, two suspects were caught with over one million pills of Tramadol, Diazepam, and Exol-5 along the Bauchi-Darazo road, while in Kaduna, another suspect was found with over 14 kilograms of skunk hidden in sacks of charcoal.

In Edo, NDLEA officers destroyed more than four tonnes of Cannabis at Ugbada camp, Uzebba forest. Several suspects were also arrested during raids on supermarkets and provision stores in the state.

The operations also netted traffickers in Kano, Kwara, and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, with seizures including thousands of capsules of tramadol, ampoules of pentazocine, and methamphetamine

From the Airports to the hinterlands, NDLEA says no hiding place for drug traffickers as the crackdown intensifies.
