The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has announced a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, seizing 1.6 tonnes of cannabis sativa in Mowe, Ogun State, South-West Nigeria.
The operation, carried out on January 14, 2026, resulted in the arrest of three suspects, including Benedict Joseph Theaddues, who were attempting to load the illicit substance into a Toyota Sienna bus and a Hummer bus.
According to NDLEA Public Relations Officer in Ogun State Command, ASN Haris A. Musa, the seizure is a testament to the agency’s commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and protecting public health and security.
The Command has vowed to continue its aggressive campaign against drug traffickers, emphasising that there will be no safe haven for those involved in the illicit trade.
The operation is part of the NDLEA’s ongoing efforts to suppress illicit drug circulation and safeguard the country, in line with its statutory mandate.
