NEDC Supports Maiduguri Flood Victims With N3 Billion

North East Development Commission (NEDC)

Three billion Naira has been approved by the Board of the North-East Development Commission NEDC, to be shared to people who engaged in small and medium sized enterprises, SMEs.

The commission is also to get involved in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of affected facilities.

The North-East Development Commission made this known when its board members led by its Chairman, Major General Paul Tarfa retired, were commiserating with Borno Governor Babagana Zulum, over the flood in Maiduguri and Jere Local Government Areas.
According to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed Alkali, once the full assessment of damage is completed, the commission will get involved in the supply of construction materials, repair of damaged infrastructure like roads and bridges.
It will also attend to environmental issues, as well as those of water, sanitation and hygiene.

“In addition to whatever was done before, we will also provide immediately the following quantities of foodstuffs:

  1. 25kg rice – 20,000 bags
  2. Macaroni – 20,000 cartons
  3. Vegetable oil – 10,000 gallons.”

The board chairman, General Paul Tarfa sympathized with the victims and prayed for the state.

,”we pray to Almighty God that it would never happen again. We pray that the Federal Government, the state government, even individuals or whoever has the heart to do something will come to the aid of Borno State.”

Governor Zulum thanked the commission for its contributions.
