The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has apologised to internally displaced persons, IDPs living at the Fufore Camp in Adamawa State, for the recent shortage in food supply, that led to protests in the camp.

NEMA Director-General Mustapha Maihaja, who was on an assessment tour of the camp, attributed the incident to  logistic challenge.

Fufore IDP camp is one of the biggest camps, housing more than 1,500 displaced persons.

The visit by the delegation of NEMA, is as a result of the protest, where the IDPs accused the Agency of ignoring their plights.

They say, NEMA did not supply food in the past 4 months, exposing them to hardship.

In explaining the cause of the delay in supply of food to their camp, the Director-General represented by the Director incharge of Relief and Rehabilitation, said there has been minor logistics challenge, which has been rectified.

The internally displaced persons, satisfied with the promises made by NEMA management say their prayer is that the Agency will keep its words.

The delegation visited the 3 major internally displaced persons camps in the State to monitor the state of the welfare provided for the displaced persons
