The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has sensitised Benue stakeholders on proper waste management to mitigate the impact of flood in the State.
Zonal Coordinator, Eugene Nyelong while declaring open the workshop in Makurdi the State capital said, it is aimed at addressing critical issues to check the perennial problems of flooding and personal hygiene.
Some incidents of flood which has become an annual recurrence in parts of the State, could be avoided if better sanitary measures or waste management practices are adhered to.
This formed the basis for deliberations at the sensitization workshop on proper waste management to mitigate the adverse effect of flood at the instance of the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA in Makurdi Benue State’s administrative capital.

General Manager Urban Development Board Ternongu Mede spoke on massive demolition plans adding that a drainage master plan to permanently address the perennial issue in the capital is on the way.
The Emergency Management Agency NEMA had carried out other sensitization exercises at the markets and other public areas.
