The Bayelsa State government has awarded fifty-four billion naira contract for the first phase of the Nembe-Brass road project in the Bayelsa East Senatorial District.

The state government made the announcement shortly after the weekly executive council meeting in government house, Yenagoa, presided by the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.

The first phase of the Nembe/Brass road is said to cover a distance of 21 kilometres with 10 bridges.

Briefing journalists shortly after the weekly state executive council meeting the acting Chief of Staff, Government House, Yenagoa, Peter Akpe, said the amount awarded for the contract came through due processes.

The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Moses Teibowei, urged Bayelsans to dispel rumours and have faith in Diri’s administration to deliver on its promises for greater Bayelsa state.

Given the peculiarity and significance of the road project, the state government assured that the contract was awarded to the best hands and that the funds to execute it have been secured.

The first phase which covers 21 kilometres is expected to start from Nembe to the saint Nicolas river.
