New GOC, Maj. Gen. Onubogu Takes Over At 2 Division Nigeria Army

The Nigerian Army (NA), has appointed Major General Obinna Onubogu, as the 46th General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division.

The new GOC, Major General Onubogu, who took over command from his predecessor, Major General Bamidele Alabi, at the Division’s Headquarters in Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Ibadan. expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taureed Lagbaja for entrusting him with the stewardship of commanding the 2 Division of the Nigerian Army. He pledged his continued loyalty to the COAS and the nation, as he resumes military duties in his new post.

Onubogu added that the new phase of his career, is another opportunity to defend the values, interests and territory of Nigeria under the nation’s constitution and directive of the COAS.

The GOC said that the Division will do all that is required to sustain the commendable efforts of his predecessor to adequately protect and secure its Area of Responsibility (AOR). To this end, he urged Commanders and Staff officers of 2 Division to focus all efforts towards achieving the objectives of the COAS’ command philosophy. He stressed on the imperative to improve operations, sustain capabilities, training, administration and troops welfare.

Maj. Gen.Onubogu also promised to continue to support the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and other security agencies to ensure a more secure internal environment within 2 Division AOR. He further charged all officers and soldiers of the Division to remain focused and committed to the act of defending the nation against external aggressions and other security challenges.
