Chief Judge of Kano State, Justice Dije Aboki has sworn in Murtala Sule Garo as the new state’s new Deputy Governor following the resignation of his predecessor, Abdulsalam Gwarzo.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by family members, as well as top government officials from both the state and federal levels.
It may not be out of place to say that destiny has finally aligned for Murtala Sule Garo.
This is because in the 2023 governorship election, he ran as deputy governorship candidate alongside Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), but their party lost to Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.
However, political tides have shifted.
Governor Yusuf’s recent defection to the APC has paved the way for Garo’s emergence, turning a previous electoral loss into a moment of political fulfillment.
Today, he takes the oath of office, assuming a position many observers say was only delayed, not denied.
Governor Yusuf described Garo’s appointment as strategic, emphasising that his experience and political pedigree align with the administration’s current priorities.
Having served as a Local Government Chairman, Chairman of ALGON, and Commissioner for Local Government, Garo brings a wealth of experience to the role.
Still under the age of 50, expectations are high for the new Deputy Governor, widely regarded as a capable and energetic leader with organic grassroots support poised to make a significant impact.
