As the 31st January 2023 deadline for withdrawal of old naira notes draws nearer, bank customers still find it difficult to obtain the redesigned naira notes through the automated teller machines ATMs.
A visit to some ATM stands in Port Harcourt the rivers state capital, indicates that most ATMs have run out of the redesigned notes.
The jostling amongst these bank customers is due to the difficulty in obtaining the newly redesigned naira notes from ATMs.
As at 10 am, Nigerian time in port Harcourt Friday, most ATMs have already run out of cash, thereby increasing the pains of bank customers.
To some bank customers, the extension of the deadline was the only way forward as most ATMs only began dispensing the new notes on Monday this week.
These long queues and crowded bank premises will no doubt continue to increase if the CBN’s thirty-first January deadline is not extended.
