New 200, 500, and 1000 Naira Notes

The Central Bank of Nigeria has visited traders in Lokoja International Market where it sensitized them on the need to use the newly redesigned naira notes and return old ones to the bank before the January 31st deadline.

Deputy Director of currency of the CBN who led officials of the Apex bank on the sensitization, said money agents and commercial banks have greater roles to play in getting rural dwellers aware of the newly designed naira notes.

The January 31st deadline issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria for the collection of the old naira notes is around the corner. Yet, not many traders and rural dwellers have gotten adequate information about this development.

To get these women and traders, mostly in the informal sector informed on the acceptability of the newly redesigned notes, the central bank of Nigeria at the sensitization in the Lokoja market says commercial banks have a greater role to play.

Controller of the Lokoja branch of the CBN in Kogi state, said all the commercial banks in the state are already dispensing the redesigned notes as directed by the apex bank

Before leaving for monitoring of compliance of loading the ATM with the new notes in Lokoja metropolises, the CBN officials took time to address crucial concerns of the traders after their sensitization in the market.
