New National Minimum Wage : SGF Requests N1Bn For Inauguration Of Committee

The Nigerian government is planning to spend the sum of One Billion Naira for the inauguration of the new National minimum wage committee.

This is contained in a memo emanating from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation seeking presidential approval.

The leaked memo with file number 58957/S.I/T6/419 and signed by the SGF, George Akume was sent to President Bola Tinubu dated January 18, 2024.

The director of information in the SGF’s office Segun Imohiosen who was contacted by ait.live on the matter at about 10am Friday, appealed for the story to be stepped down to enable him get a clarification.

As at the time of filing this report, the director is yet to respond to our enquires.

At the bottom of the memo is a directive to the SGF in green ink to “start with N500” with a signature similar to that of the President.

The tripartite committee on the new National Minimum Wage was inaugurated on January 26, 2024.
